My life as an artist has evolved over time. Beginning with a degree from Rhode Island School of Design, and continuing on with a career as a textile designer in New York City, I spent many years in industry. After leaving the corporate world to raise two children, I decided to focus my attention on fine art. Beginning with an opportunity to be a teaching assistant to Elizabeth Busch at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, I discovered ways to express my ideas with paint and fabric. This was a launching point for a diverse exploration of materials and techniques, which has landed me where I am today with an emphasis on sculptural basketry and art quilts.
Since assisting Elizabeth Busch, I have been back to Haystack to study with Claire Verstegen for textile design, and again with Lissa Hunter for basketry. Another strong influence came from Joli Green, an artist and sculptural basket maker based in Maine.
My artwork has been exhibited at the Portland Museum of Art, in Portland, Maine, along with many galleries around New England. Much of my artwork is created as commissioned work, specifically designed for an intended space.
I love sharing my experiences with others, and am passionate about new experiences. My art, in many ways, is a launching point for meeting new people and exploring the world we live in.
